Nigel Farage is being called upon to denounce the outdated views within his party following a controversial statement made by one of his MPs regarding an “LGBT supporting” coalition. Danny Kruger, who recently switched from the Conservative Party to Reform UK, expressed concerns about a diverse group of left-wing parties, equating support for LGBT rights with backing Hamas in a video shared on Reform UK’s YouTube channel.
The comments made by Kruger have been criticized as being out of touch and inappropriate, prompting demands for condemnation from Farage. This comes after Farage expressed anger over a divisive remark made by Reform’s Sarah Pochin, who expressed frustration at seeing Black and Asian individuals in advertisements but was not labeled as racist by Farage.
During a membership event for Reform UK, Kruger, son of TV personality Prue Leith, cautioned that the UK could potentially be governed by a radical party that supports Hamas and LGBT causes. He highlighted the competition Reform faces from various political parties, emphasizing the need for people, even former Conservatives, to join Reform to prevent what he perceives as a dangerous coalition from taking power.
Polly Billington, Labour MP for East Thanet, condemned Kruger’s remarks as divisive and harmful, urging Farage to take action against such rhetoric. She expressed concern over the divisive tactics employed by Reform that target marginalized groups in society.
Kruger, when pressed by the media, failed to articulate his specific concerns about LGBT rights but emphasized the alleged incoherence of the opposing political coalition. He warned about the potential consequences of an election outcome that would empower what he described as a chaotic and extremist government, advocating for Reform as the solution for those seeking sensible governance.
