A man convicted of murder after orchestrating the killing of a 17-year-old girl who reported him to the police has been identified as Lenard White, 37. The victim, Isabella Scavelli, along with her mother La Shawn Pope, reported White to the authorities in Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, Florida, for sexual assault on February 6, 2023. Tragically, Isabella was fatally shot by a gunman the following day as she opened her front door.
The lethal attack was carried out by Sheldon Robinson, whose involvement ultimately led to the arrest of White, who is Robinson’s cousin. White was found guilty of murder and other charges including conspiracy to commit murder for hire, witness tampering, obstruction of justice, and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
Isabella, a high school junior actively participating in school programs like the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC), was shot in the back while attempting to flee for help upon seeing Robinson at her doorstep. La Shawn, her mother, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and witnessed her daughter’s tragic death.
Following the incident, La Shawn was airlifted to a Tampa hospital for treatment. The authorities, in collaboration with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), promptly identified Robinson and White as suspects. The murder weapon was recovered from Robinson’s backyard six months after the crime.
Both White and Robinson were convicted of multiple charges and are facing potential life sentences. They are scheduled to appear in court for sentencing on January 30, 2026.
