A cloud of uncertainty lingers over the tragic deaths of a social media influencer and her teenage daughter in Rio de Janeiro.
Lidiane Lorenço, aged 33, and her 15-year-old daughter Miana Sophya were discovered lifeless in their residence in Barra da Tijuca, located in the southwestern part of the city, on October 10. The authorities found Lidiane in one of the bedrooms, while Miana was in the living room. No signs of physical harm were evident on their bodies, as reported by Brazilian media citing the local police department, 16th DP.
The family’s legal representative expressed that the recent forensic analysis has generated more inquiries than solutions regarding the case.
As per G1, attorney Rodrigo Moulin remarked, “The forensic analysis has prompted further questions, reflecting the cautious approach of the police in not excluding any possibilities. This examination has indeed raised additional concerns in the case.”
Following three hours of forensic inspection, Moulin highlighted that the sole confirmed irregularity was the improper installation of the apartment’s gas system. “The water heater was installed in a completely irregular manner, and the gas discharge from the chimney ends inside the apartment itself.”
He further stated, “The police have not discarded any theories yet. Other potential causes, including food-related factors, have been raised, necessitating awaiting the forensic outcomes. The situation remains inconclusive.”
Lidiane had relocated to Rio a few years ago, pursuing studies in medicine while engaging in modeling and social media influencing. Miana had moved from São Paulo, where she attended EEB Irmã Irene school, to reside with her mother in Rio.
Shortly after the discovery of their bodies, local law enforcement informed G1: “A forensic examination at the scene revealed no signs of violence.”
Moulin emphasized the significance of the death certificate in determining the cause of death for the mother and daughter, considering their respective health conditions. Lidiane had thrombophilia, increasing clotting risk, while Miana had hemophilia, a rare clotting disorder due to deficient proteins, as reported by G1.
