The video, originally shared on the Department of Homeland Security’s Facebook page under the title “Life After All Criminal Aliens Are Deported,” was taken down following an official takedown request.
The video included unrelated footage of fast cars, Twin Peaks, and snippets of Donald Trump, all set to The Cure’s 1992 single. This removal follows criticism directed at the White House for using Jess Glynne’s song in a video that was perceived as mocking immigrants.
The ICE video was removed from X platform in response to a DMCA takedown request. Although the video was also muted on Instagram, it remains accessible on Facebook. Fans of The Cure expressed satisfaction with the decision to take down the video, with one individual commenting, “MAGA fascists should stick to their own music and keep good music out of their propaganda.”
While The Cure has not issued a statement regarding the video, this incident is not the first time ICE has faced backlash from musicians. Chappell Roan openly criticized ICE during a California concert by exclaiming, “F— ICE!” This sentiment was echoed by Chance the Rapper at his Chicago show, where he shouted the same sentiment during his performance of “Drapetomania.”
