A man endured a terrifying abduction where he was bound, blindfolded, forced into a vehicle, and then repeatedly stabbed. The court learned that Connor Price, 28, faced a nightmarish kidnapping before his father orchestrated a daring rescue by ramming the kidnappers’ car, enabling Mr. Price to flee through a car window.
Tyshane Brown, 30, Luke Williams, 19, and George Miles-Williams, 24, conspired to snatch Mr. Price from Cyfarthfa Retail Park in Merthyr Tydfil on February 10, demanding £5,000 from his girlfriend. Mr. Price sustained multiple stab wounds and collapsed after his escape, initially mistaking the injuries for gunshot wounds, as revealed in court.
Williams made contact with Mr. Price, an acquaintance, and arranged a meeting at Cyfarthfa Retail Park. The defendants, along with another man coerced by threats, traveled to Merthyr Tydfil from Hereford. During the journey, Brown retrieved a bag from the bushes before rejoining the group in the car.
Upon Mr. Price’s arrival at the scene, he was pulled into the defendants’ vehicle while his girlfriend remained in their car. Brown, armed with a knife, proceeded to threaten Mr. Price with it. Amid the chaos, Mr. Price’s girlfriend raised alarm about the weapons present.
Despite Mr. Price’s attempt to escape, he was forcibly held back by Williams. Subsequently, the kidnappers sped away in their car, leaving Mr. Price’s girlfriend behind. She tried to follow but lost sight of them.
Inside the car, Mr. Price endured further attacks, including being stabbed multiple times by Brown. The situation escalated as demands for money and threats of violence intensified. Mr. Price’s girlfriend was coerced not to involve the authorities under the threat of harm to Mr. Price.
In a desperate bid to secure Mr. Price’s release, his girlfriend contacted his father, Jordan Price, who devised a plan for a staged handover at the retail park. This plan involved a decoy drop-off and a strategic intervention by Jordan Price and his associates.
As the events unfolded at the rendezvous point, the kidnappers realized the ruse, triggering a frantic attempt to escape. Amid the chaos, Jordan Price intervened by ramming the kidnappers’ vehicle, allowing Mr. Price to break free and be rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
Following the incident, the perpetrators fled the scene, with subsequent arrests leading to legal proceedings. Brown, Williams, and Miles-Williams were convicted of various serious offenses, including attempted murder, kidnapping, and possession of weapons.
In the sentencing phase, Judge Lloyd-Clarke highlighted the roles of each defendant, emphasizing Brown’s leadership in the crimes. Brown received a 30-year prison sentence, Williams 25 years in a young offenders institute, and Miles-Williams 20 years of imprisonment.
The resolution of this harrowing ordeal serves as a reminder of the consequences of criminal actions and the importance of swift justice in upholding the law and protecting victims.
