The latest Premium Bond results for January 2026 were unveiled today, revealing that two individuals have struck it rich with a £1 million windfall each to kick off the New Year.
One lucky winner, residing in Suffolk, holds the maximum £50,000 in Premium Bonds. Their winning bond number, 570QM451332, was acquired in February 2024. Meanwhile, the second £1 million prize went to a resident of Berkshire who also possesses £50,000 in Premium Bonds, with the winning bond number 377PG290829 purchased back in December 2019.
Premium Bonds, a unique savings product offered by National Savings & Investment (NS&I), operate through a monthly prize draw system instead of providing a fixed interest rate on savings.
The monthly prize range for Premium Bonds varies from £25 to £1 million, with a higher frequency of smaller prizes compared to the larger sums. Each £1 invested in Premium Bonds corresponds to a distinct bond number, with a maximum savings limit of £50,000.
The odds of winning a prize each month with Premium Bonds are 22,000 to 1 for every £1 bond held. Winners are typically notified via email or text message by NS&I, allowing them to choose between receiving the prize money directly into their bank account or reinvesting it in Premium Bonds.
The current prize fund rate for Premium Bonds stands at 3.60%, a figure that has remained constant since the August 2025 draw. The prize fund rate has experienced a gradual decline recently, leading to a slight reduction in the number of larger prizes awarded, while smaller prizes have seen an increase.
Despite these adjustments, two £1 million prizes continue to be distributed each month as part of the Premium Bonds scheme, which boasts over 24 million participants nationwide. Data from last month highlighted Hampshire and the Isle of Wight as particularly lucky regions, with 42 individuals winning £100,000 Premium Bond prizes in 2025.
Essex, Outer London, Norwich, and Cumbria also saw significant prize wins, with multiple individuals clinching £100,000 prizes and two £1 million jackpots awarded in Norwich and Cumbria last year.
