His crime spree came to an end when he was apprehended after a robbery at a McDonald’s in North Carolina in 2000. Following a daring escape in 2004, he took refuge in a Toys R Us store, utilizing baby monitors to evade detection during daylight hours.
Although his concealment was eventually discovered by store staff, Manchester managed to elude capture for a prolonged period by relocating within the premises. He even established a new identity in the community, forming relationships and attending church under a false name.
Ultimately, Manchester’s true identity was revealed, leading to his recapture with the assistance of an acquaintance. He is currently serving his sentence at Central Prison in North Carolina, with a projected release date in 2036.
