“Trump Urges Halt to Ukraine Conflict Amid Heated Exchange”

In a recent meeting, Donald Trump engaged in a heated exchange with Vlodymyr Zelensky over the absence of Tomahawk missiles for Ukraine. The US president, after discussions with Zelensky at the White House, publicly called for a halt to the ongoing conflict between Kyiv and Moscow. Despite a more amicable tone in front of the media compared to their previous encounter, tensions remained high during the meeting.

Reports from the Financial Times suggest that Trump expressed frustration by frequently cursing and engaging in a shouting match with Zelensky. He issued a warning that failure to comply with Russia’s terms could result in Ukraine’s destruction. Trump advocated for Ukraine to relinquish its claims on the Donbas region and eventually agreed to support a freeze on current frontlines, while indicating reluctance to provide long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.

During the meeting, Zelensky proposed a deal involving the exchange of advanced drones for Tomahawk cruise missiles, yet Trump hesitated to commit to this arrangement. Trump emphasized the importance of maintaining a robust supply of weaponry in case of unforeseen circumstances, expressing a preference for resolving the conflict rather than escalating it.

A European official revealed that Trump pressured Zelensky to reach a settlement or face dire consequences, emphasizing the potential for destruction if Putin desired it. Trump’s frustration was evident when he threw a frontline map on the table, expressing his discontent and lack of familiarity with the situation.

Following the meeting, Trump took to social media to call for an end to the bloodshed and urged both sides to cease hostilities immediately. While in Florida, Trump reiterated his plea for a swift resolution to the conflict and hinted at allowing Moscow to retain territory seized from Kyiv.
