A woman described as a “psychopath” has admitted to poisoning 10 dogs while fine-tuning the levels of a substance she planned to use in a murderous spree. In a separate incident, a 65-year-old man passed away after consuming a “toxic bean stew,” showing symptoms at home before being hospitalized. Authorities suspect foul play in Neil Correa da Silva’s death, suggesting a deliberate poisoning orchestrated by his daughter and another woman, Ana Paula Veloso.
Allegedly, a sinister scheme was concocted by Veloso and da Silva’s daughter, fueled by animosity between the victim and his offspring. Both women were present at the property in Baixada Fluminense, Rio de Janeiro, on the night of Correa da Silva’s illness. Law enforcement officials have linked Veloso to three additional deaths, labeling her as a “serial killer.”
Veloso reportedly confessed to experimenting with poison on 10 dogs to perfect the dosage and timing for the intended victim, aiming to make the death appear non-suspicious. Police authorities revealed that Veloso meticulously planned the killings, exhibiting a methodical approach rather than impulsive actions.
Further investigation uncovered terbufos, a rat poison slightly less potent than lead, in Veloso’s residence. Text exchanges between Veloso and da Silva’s daughter, Michele Paiva da Silva, indicated discussions about poisoning the elderly man. The plot thickens as Veloso’s twin sister, Roberta, faces accusations of aiding and abetting the criminal acts.
allegedly receiving payment from Michele to carry out the murders, including that of Neil and three others earlier in the year. The police chief highlighted the similarities in behavior between the suspects, emphasizing manipulation and the use of poison as a silent weapon.
Neil succumbed to the poisoning on April 26 at the Adao Pereira Nunes Municipal Hospital, prompting authorities to schedule his exhumation for further forensic analysis. Additionally, Veloso is accused of attempting to shift blame onto an innocent party by feigning victimhood.
In a peculiar turn of events, Veloso reportedly tried to frame an unrelated individual by fabricating a scenario where she appeared to be a victim of poisoning. However, investigative efforts exposed her true nature as a serial killer, casting doubt on her innocence.
