“Thailand’s Haunting Abandoned Hotel: Curse or Coincidence?”

In one of Thailand’s picturesque regions, a once-promising hotel met a tragic end due to a series of misfortunes that locals believed stemmed from a curse. The Galaxy, resembling a stranded cruise ship, was a seven-story structure designed to allure tourists to its scenic location.

After its downfall, the abandoned Galaxy became a magnet for urban explorers eager to uncover its mysterious past. American social media influencer Joshua T Yozura ventured to this site on Koh Chang, Thailand’s third largest island, and documented his exploration on his YouTube series, “Exploring with Josh.”

Originally a US Navy vessel, the Galaxy was later transformed into a Thai ship by a wealthy individual with dreams of owning a floating hotel. Located in the lush Koh Chang Lagoona, the resort was once a popular destination featuring luxurious bungalows and a dominant ship structure.

Today, the deserted hotel stands as a dilapidated reminder of its former glory, with faded exteriors and an eerie silence enveloping the surroundings. Various factors, including the uprooting of a sacred Banyan tree and the prevalence of mosquito-borne diseases, contributed to the hotel’s ill-fated reputation.

Reports of illnesses, accidents, and even deaths among guests and workers further fueled the hotel’s ominous aura. Eventually closing its doors to guests in 2012, the hotel succumbed to financial woes exacerbated by the pandemic, leading to its eventual demise in a mysterious fire in December 2024.

Now reduced to a charred hull, the Galaxy’s legacy lives on through folklore and legends, marking the end of its turbulent existence as a once-grand but doomed establishment.
