“Olympic Champion Jessica Ennis-Hill Joins MND Charity Run”

Olympic gold medalist Jessica Ennis-Hill has confirmed her participation alongside Kevin Sinfield in his ongoing charity initiative aimed at supporting Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Ennis-Hill, a resident of Sheffield, will be running with Sinfield in the fourth installment of his ‘7 in 7 Together’ challenge scheduled for Thursday.

Sinfield, who commenced the challenge earlier this week, is set to complete an ultra marathon each day for a week. This event marks Sinfield’s sixth consecutive year of fundraising for MND charities, having amassed over £10 million to date. The funds raised have contributed to the establishment of a unique center in Leeds, the first of its kind in the UK.

The inspiration behind Sinfield’s charitable endeavors stems from his former colleague and dear friend Rob Burrow’s battle with MND. Sinfield’s remarkable dedication has garnered international acclaim, with Ennis-Hill’s involvement expected to significantly boost awareness for MND.

Ennis-Hill, renowned for her heptathlon Olympic triumph in 2012 and three-time world championship titles, transitioned into a successful media career post-athletics retirement. She actively supports various charities, including the Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Barrie Wells’ sports foundation.

In pursuit of a cure for MND, Sinfield remains resolute in his mission, emphasizing the ongoing need for advocacy. Recent news of England World Cup winner Lewis Moody’s MND diagnosis serves as a poignant reminder of the relentless campaigning required.

Moody is planning a fundraising dinner in April and aims to organize a charity bike ride in 2026. Following the Sheffield leg, Sinfield’s challenge will continue through Cumbria, Scotland, culminating in Leeds on Sunday.
