“Invisible Heroes: The Unsung Dedication of Migrant Care Workers”

I provide care for your elders and loved ones with utmost dedication and compassion. I offer comfort during their moments of fear, support during times of trembling, and solace in the stillness of night. Assisting them to regain mobility, appetite, and a sense of humanity is my daily commitment.

Being a migrant care worker, I take pride in the profound impact I make in the lives of those under my care. My motivation stems not from a job description but from an intrinsic calling to serve others.

Arriving in the UK as an asylum seeker, I found purpose in caregiving, earning recognition and gratitude from the individuals and families I assist. Despite my contributions, I sometimes feel invisible to the society I serve, unseen behind the uniform.

My days are filled with extended shifts, taxing me physically and emotionally. I contribute to society through hard work, perseverance, and genuine care. Yet, there are voices labeling workers like me as burdens or strangers, failing to acknowledge the vital role we play in sustaining care facilities and healthcare systems.

The proposal to delay Indefinite Leave to Remain applications for up to 15 years brings a deep sense of disappointment and disillusionment. After years of dedicated service and sacrifice, being told to wait further for acceptance is disheartening.

Migrant care workers seek fairness and humanity, not special treatment or accolades. We carry the weight of responsibility and provide essential support to countless individuals and families. All we ask for is stability, respect, and the opportunity to build a secure future without prolonged uncertainty.

We are not here to take but to give, contributing our skills and compassion since our arrival. I hope for a day when the UK recognizes and reciprocates the care and dedication we offer to its people.
