“Gordie Howe Bridge Draws High Traffic After Opening”

Statistics Canada has reported that the Gordie Howe International Bridge welcomed a significant number of drivers in the days following its recent opening. The bridge, which links Windsor and Detroit, finally opened for traffic on July 27 after experiencing delays. According to preliminary data from StatCan, there were 18,900 return trips made by Canadian residents entering Canada from the U.S. via the Gordie Howe bridge during its initial five days of operation. Additionally, 18,100 U.S. residents crossed the bridge into Canada during the same period. Comparatively, the Ambassador Bridge and the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel recorded a total of 52,700 inbound trips by both Canadian and U.S. residents over the same timeframe. Furthermore, StatCan reported that 4,100 commercial trucks entered Canada via the Gordie Howe bridge during the last five days of July.
