A former TV news anchor, Angelynn ‘Angie’ Mock, has been charged with first-degree murder after her elderly mother was fatally stabbed. Mock, who previously worked for Fox 2 News in St. Louis, Missouri, was found covered in blood outside her home where her mother, Anita Avers, was discovered with multiple stab wounds. Anita, an 80-year-old therapist, was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Mock, who had cuts on her hands, was also treated for injuries before being arrested.
Mock, who had a successful career as a journalist, is currently held in Sedgwick County Jail on a $1 million bond for the murder charge. It is unclear if she has entered a plea or secured legal representation. According to neighbors, Mock appeared distressed and covered in blood, seeking help before fleeing the scene. The incident, described as a domestic dispute, remains under investigation.
911 dispatchers reported that the incident was a result of the “calling party stabbing the mother to save herself.” Mock, whose career spanned from sports reporting to sales, had most recently been working for a data management software firm. Her abrupt career change came after working in the media industry for several years.
