“Tragic Fall at Grand Canyon Claims Man’s Life”

A tragic incident occurred at the Grand Canyon where a 65-year-old man lost his life after slipping off the edge. The victim fell approximately 130 feet from Guano Point on the western rim of the canyon, situated on the Hualapai Reservation, as confirmed by the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

Following the incident, the sheriff’s office collaborated with Hualapai Nation technicians to deploy a pulley system using ropes to retrieve the man’s body from the canyon. The recovery operation took place on Thursday afternoon, with the sheriff’s office reporting that the man was found about 130 feet down on a scree pile. Technical rope technicians were instrumental in setting up a system to safely recover the body and transport it to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Assisting in the recovery efforts were the Hualapai Tribal Police Department, Hualapai Nation Fire, and Grand Canyon West Security, all of whom were acknowledged for their support. The sheriff’s office extended condolences to the victim’s family and urged respect for their privacy during this difficult time.

The man’s identity has not been disclosed, and his body was transferred to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office for further procedures. This incident follows a previous fatality at the Grand Canyon National Park in September, where a 27-year-old man named Steven Bradley lost his life after his vehicle went over a rim near the South Kaibab Trailhead, with his body found approximately 300 feet below the rim.
