“Madonna Leads MTV VMA Nominations with 11”

The queen of pop is poised to reclaim her throne at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards. Surpassing Taylor Swift, Madonna has secured the most nominations for the event this year, marking her third time as the top nominee. With a total of 11 nominations, Madonna’s recognition at the upcoming ceremony is attributed to her successful album “Confessions II” and its corresponding film.

In this year’s nominations, Madonna outshines Taylor Swift, who holds the record for the most VMA wins by a solo artist, with nine nominations for her album “The Life of a Showgirl” and the music video “The Fate of Ophelia.” Following closely behind Swift are Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande, each garnering seven nominations.

Previously, Madonna led the VMAs nominations in 1990 and 1998 during her “Vogue” and “Ray of Light” eras. Notably, Madonna’s groundbreaking performance at the inaugural 1984 ceremony, where she provocatively sang “Like a Virgin” in a wedding dress and “Boy Toy” belt buckle, remains a pivotal moment in VMA history, challenging the limits of cable television.

Among Madonna’s nominations are categories like video of the year, artist of the year, and song and collaboration of the year for her track “Bring Your Love,” featuring Sabrina Carpenter. The coveted video of the year award will see Madonna’s “Confessions” competing against Taylor Swift’s “Ophelia,” Ariana Grande’s “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” Sabrina Carpenter’s “Tears,” Bruno Mars’s “I Just Might,” and Gener8ion and Yung Lean’s “Storm.”

For this year’s ceremony, public voting will be available for 13 categories. The winners will be revealed during the live broadcast on September 27 on CBS, MTV, and Paramount+.
