An elderly landlord reportedly fatally shot a naked man who forcibly entered his residence, causing the intruder to suffer severe leg injuries from being violently thrown onto concrete.
The landlord, a 79-year-old military veteran, thwarted the intrusion when the naked individual entered an apartment building on Tujunga Avenue in Los Angeles, USA. Witnesses revealed that the veteran rushed to their aid upon hearing their distress calls.
Eyewitnesses observed the naked intruder lifting the elderly man and slamming him onto the concrete driveway, prompting the landlord to fire multiple shots in response.
Captain Warner Castillo from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) stated, “The witnesses reported that the suspect lifted the 79-year-old and slammed him onto the driveway, which is made of concrete.” The captain added that the landlord shot the suspect three times in self-defense.
The elderly man, described by local residents as “very kind” and “a good-natured person,” was taken to the hospital after the incident, and his current condition remains undisclosed.
The two women who raised the alarm were unharmed. A bystander, who chose to remain anonymous, recalled hearing the initial commotion and initially mistaking it for a house fire upon seeing the naked man. The witness mentioned hearing gunshots after spotting the intruder.
According to the witness, the elderly man fired two more shots at the intruder after he fell to the ground. The witness explained, “There was an older man inside the house. The intruder was entering through their gate, and shots were fired. I heard one shot. Then I looked over, and the intruder was on the ground. The older man was also on the ground and shot him two more times.”
Footage from CCTV cameras captured the naked man wandering the neighborhood before the altercation. A video from a local’s Ring doorbell camera showed him approaching a residence’s front door and grabbing a nearby sign before moving along the street.
Another witness mentioned that the man attempted to enter the location of the incident upon noticing an open gate, saying, “He was walking up and down the sidewalk. Then he spotted the open gate and rushed over.”
