The Original Factory Shop has recently appointed administrators, making it one of the latest retailers facing financial challenges. Interpath Advisory has been tasked with handling the administration process, which has put 137 stores and 1,180 jobs in jeopardy.
Despite the appointment of administrators, the stores of The Original Factory Shop are operating normally as assessments are being made regarding the future of the business. However, the online operations have been suspended during this period.
The decision to enter administration was influenced by various factors such as cost inflation, increased labor expenses, and reduced consumer spending affecting sales. Complications with its third-party warehouse and logistics provider have further exacerbated the company’s problems. Established in 1969, The Original Factory Shop was acquired by Modella Capital last year.
Rick Harrison, the managing director at Interpath and joint administrator, expressed regret over the challenges faced by the company that led to the administration process. He emphasized the commitment to work closely with the dedicated team of employees to explore options for sustaining the business while striving to keep all stores operational.
