“FRSC Releases Photos from Anthony Joshua Accident”

Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps has released new photos from the site of a tragic accident involving British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua. The agency has also offered a detailed account of the incident that claimed the lives of two other individuals.

Joshua was hospitalized after being extricated from the wreckage of the SUV he was traveling in with a driver and other passengers on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Nigeria on Monday morning. According to reports, a blown tire caused the vehicle Joshua was in to veer off course and collide with a stationary lorry.

Authorities from Ogun State police have initiated an investigation, and the FRSC has also provided an update on the matter.

On Monday, December 29, at 2:10 pm GMT, the organization posted four new images of the demolished SUV and the truck it crashed into on X. The images show officials at the scene with bystanders, and the back of the truck has been cordoned off.

In a series of posts, the FRSC stated, “FRSC OPERATIVES RESCUE ANTHONY JOSHUA AS TWO DIE FROM OGUN STATE FATAL CRASH.” The incident occurred on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway near Sagamu, Ogun State, involving a Lexus Jeep carrying Anthony Joshua and a stationary truck.

The FRSC reacted swiftly to the crash, arriving at the scene within three minutes of notification, facilitating rescue operations, victim evacuation, traffic control, and preventing further accidents.

The organization reported that two individuals lost their lives, one was injured, and two escaped unharmed. Anthony Joshua sustained minor injuries and was saved. The injured person received medical attention, and the deceased were taken to Livewell Morgue, Ajaka, Sagamu.

Preliminary findings indicated that the Lexus Jeep, allegedly speeding and attempting to overtake, lost control and collided with the parked truck, leading to the fatal crash. The FRSC emphasized the dangers of speeding and reckless overtaking on Nigerian roads.

The FRSC expressed condolences to the families of the deceased, wished Anthony Joshua a swift recovery, and urged motorists to adhere to traffic regulations, particularly on high-speed roads like the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.

The public was reminded of the FRSC’s commitment to ensuring road safety, rapid emergency response, and continuous education to reduce accidents and fatalities nationwide.

Preliminary reports from Ogun State government identified the deceased as “two male foreign nationals.”

Anthony Joshua has not made any public statements following the incident, and his exact hospital location has not been disclosed by authorities.
