“Say Goodbye to Wrinkles: Creative Ways to Smooth Clothes Without Ironing”

There are a few things that can spoil an outfit, with wrinkles being a major concern. It’s a common scenario – you put on your favorite clothes only to find them covered in creases, leaving you pondering whether to iron them or hope no one notices. But what if you could avoid the hassle altogether?

Roza Francken, a fashion expert at Aurélien, suggests various ways to smooth out clothes without ironing, most of which utilize items readily available at home. “Many people think the iron is the only solution, but that’s not the case,” Roza explains. “With a bit of creativity, you can eliminate wrinkles quickly, sometimes multitasking in the process.”

One simple method that requires no extra effort is using steam while showering. Hang your clothes in the bathroom or on the shower rail, close all openings to allow steam to build up. After about ten minutes, your garments will appear refreshed. This steam technique is popular among frequent travelers.

When pressed for time or lacking the desire to iron, a homemade spray can be a quick fix. Mix a teaspoon of fabric softener or a small amount of hair conditioner with boiled or distilled water in a spray bottle. Lightly spray the wrinkled areas, then hang the garment. Soon, the fabric will relax, and the wrinkles will diminish. Be cautious not to overspray, as it may prolong drying time.

A similar approach to the steam trick involves using a kettle. Hang your clothes and let the steam from the boiling kettle gently reach the fabric. Be cautious not to get too close and protect your hands with oven gloves or mitts. This method allows you to kill two birds with one stone – preparing tea and smoothing out your outfit simultaneously.

For stubborn creases, Roza recommends using a damp towel. Lay the garment flat, cover it with a moistened towel, and press down firmly. The combination of warmth and pressure will help remove wrinkles. In a pinch, even a damp paper towel can serve the same purpose.

If you have a tumble dryer, a quick refresh is possible by lightly dampening a dryer sheet and placing it with the wrinkled item on high heat for ten minutes. Remember to remove the garment promptly to maintain the smoothness. This energy-efficient method is much simpler than re-washing the entire load just to address wrinkles.
