Newly released video footage captures the dramatic moment when a well-known gang leader falls to his death while attempting to evade law enforcement. The leader of the Tren de Aragua gang, Ender Alexis Rojas Montan, plunged eight floors from an apartment building during a police pursuit, resulting in a fatal impact.
The incident took place in Antioquia on October 9, as Colombian National Police officers raided the property where Rojas Montan was hiding. Body camera recordings reveal the intense chase, with the gang leader slipping through a balcony railing and falling to the ground below.
Several armed officers stormed the residence, prompting Rojas Montan’s failed escape attempt. While some individuals cooperated with authorities, including surrendering and hiding, Rojas Montan met a tragic fate.
The apartment search led to the discovery of illegal items, such as a grenade fragment and a significant amount of amphetamine. Three other individuals believed to be part of the gang were also apprehended during the operation.
Rojas Montan, wanted for aggravated kidnapping and linked to the Tren de Aragua gang, had been on the run for various criminal activities. After fleeing Chile, he relocated to Colombia to expand the gang’s operations in the Aburra Valley region.
The coordinated raid, known as Operation Shadow 3, involved authorities from Colombia, Chile, and Peru, supported by the US Drug Enforcement Agency and Ameripol. The surviving suspects captured in the operation were allegedly involved in managing illicit drug distribution and other criminal activities for the gang.
The incident sheds light on the ongoing efforts to combat organized crime and underscores the collaboration among international law enforcement agencies to target criminal networks.
