Shocking video footage shared on social media has captured a priest in a compromising situation with a parishioner’s fiancée on church grounds. Father Luciano Braga Simplício, who served at Nossa Senhora Aparecida Parish in Nova Maringá, Brazil, was discovered partially undressed with a congregant. The incident, recorded in a video that went viral, has sparked controversy.
The family of the bride-to-be has not yet issued a statement regarding the incident. The video shows the groom confronting Simplício after the priest refused to open the doors, eventually finding the bride distressed in the bathroom. The Diocese of Diamantino (MT) has initiated an investigation into the priest’s behavior.
In response to the incident, the Diocese released a statement indicating that appropriate measures are being taken. An audio clip has also surfaced online in which Simplício explains that the woman requested to use a room to change and shower after her church duties, claiming that she joked about staying overnight in the room.
In a separate case from July, it was revealed that a former priest from a “cult church” in Sheffield, Christopher Brain, faced allegations of sexual assault against multiple female congregants. Brain, who led the Nine O’Clock Service (NOS) movement, was accused of multiple counts of assault and rape against women in his congregation during his time as a church leader. The prosecution described NOS as a deceptive group where Brain abused his authority to exploit numerous women.
