A couple from Connecticut who were accused of engaging in a sexual act in front of children on a JetBlue flight have evaded criminal charges. Trista L. Reilly, 43, and Christopher D. Arnold, 42, were taken into custody in July upon landing in Florida from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. The pair, residents of Danbury, were initially charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior in the presence of minors, a felony offense in Florida.
Nevertheless, Florida authorities decided to drop the charges recently without specifying the reasons, as reported by The Mercury News. According to court records, a mother traveling with her two children on JetBlue Flight 163 on July 19 alerted a flight attendant after witnessing Ms. Reilly lying on Mr. Arnold’s lap, leading the crew to contact law enforcement.
The couple was apprehended around 11:30 am shortly after the aircraft landed, as per ABC affiliate WWSB. Following their release on their own recognizance, they pleaded not guilty in August. JetBlue condemned the alleged behavior as “completely unacceptable” and stated that it is not tolerated by the airline, vowing to cooperate fully with the investigation and banning the customers involved from flying with them in the future.
In a separate incident, police swarmed a flight after discovering a threatening note in the toilet of a Frontier Airlines aircraft traveling from Denver, Colorado, to Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. The flight landed safely in Dallas, and Frontier Airlines confirmed that the threat was deemed non-credible after law enforcement intervention. The aircraft was cleared to proceed to the terminal for passenger disembarkation.
