“Unity and Transformation: Your Party Founding Conference Marks Shift from Internal Conflicts”

The organizers of Your Party aimed to move past contentious disputes during their recent founding conference. Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn emphasized the importance of unity in his address to over 2,000 delegates. Despite rumors of disruption, the event proceeded smoothly, marking a shift from the internal conflicts that have plagued the party since its inception.

Corbyn urged attendees to avoid division and strive for a united front in advocating for real socialism and social justice. However, tensions arose when former Labour MP Zarah Sultana expressed disappointment over expulsions from the party just before the conference. She highlighted the need to foster a welcoming environment for all socialists, denouncing what she termed a “witch hunt.”

Following a brief period of confusion, Sultana eventually addressed the conference, acknowledging setbacks in the party’s establishment process and apologizing for any role she played in them. Notably, members voted against a single leadership structure, opting instead for a committee of ordinary members to lead until late 2027.

During the conference’s conclusion, Corbyn revealed the party’s official name, “Your Party,” chosen by the members. He stressed the importance of collective effort and mindful actions, emphasizing the significant impact on people across the country. The transition to a new leadership model signals a departure from traditional norms, with the party poised for a transformative journey ahead.
