“Survivor Greece Contestant Sues for $100M After Boating Accident”

A young man who was a participant in the Greek version of the popular competition show “Survivor” is taking legal action against the program’s creators following a tragic boating incident that resulted in the amputation of his leg.

Stavros Floros, now 22, has filed a lawsuit in a Florida court, seeking $100 million in compensation. The incident occurred while Floros was competing in Season 13 of Survivor Greece, engaging in spearfishing off the coast of the Dominican Republic on May 11.

Court records obtained by CBC News reveal that Floros was struck by a tourist boat, causing the severance of his left leg above the knee and significant injuries to his right leg. He was promptly brought ashore and later transferred to a Miami hospital, where he underwent multiple surgeries and spent two months in recovery.

Graphic images of Floros post-accident were published by TMZ, illustrating the severity of his injuries. Despite initial statements from Skai TV, the broadcaster of Survivor Greece, suspending the show and expressing support for Floros, the contestant claims inadequate care and support from the production company.

In his lawsuit filed in Miami-Dade Circuit Court, Floros names AcunMedya, AcunMedya Global, Acun LLC, Turkish businessman Acun Ilicali, and the parent company of Skai TV as defendants. The court documents include testimonies from Floros and fellow cast members detailing the circumstances leading to the accident.

The lawsuit alleges that the production team failed to implement safety measures despite the known risks of high-speed boat traffic in the area. Floros and another contestant were engaged in fishing activities when the boat collision occurred, leaving Floros with life-altering injuries.

Floros expressed his dismay over the lack of support from the production company, emphasizing the profound impact the incident had on his life. The legal action taken against the responsible parties aims to address the negligence and lack of proper care following the accident.

Apart from Survivor Greece, AcunMedya is involved in producing various international versions of the franchise across different countries. Floros’ legal representatives are pursuing justice for the contestant, highlighting the need for accountability and responsibility in reality show productions.
