The royal couple, alongside their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will be relocating to the UK to live as private citizens. Although the exact date of their return was not disclosed, reports suggest they aim to settle in before the children start school in September.
Having stepped back from their royal duties in March 2020, Harry and Meghan departed the UK and later settled in California after a brief stay in Canada. Their departure followed public criticism of the monarchy, leading to a strained relationship with the Royal Family, particularly Prince William and Prince Charles. In a candid interview in February 2021, Harry expressed the challenges they faced and their decision to seek a new environment for their family.
Notably, Harry had voiced concerns over security arrangements and the lack of police protection for his family during their visits to the UK. Despite the difficulties, Harry emphasized that he never intended to abandon his royal responsibilities.
In a separate development, Harry was involved in a privacy lawsuit against The Daily Mail, which he ultimately lost in July. The lawsuit, aiming to address the alleged mistreatment of Meghan, ended unfavorably for Harry, prompting a critical response from him regarding the court’s decision.
However, there seems to be a positive shift in the relationship between Harry and his father, King Charles, as they recently met for the first time in almost two years. The family’s visit to the UK in July allowed King Charles to reunite with his grandchildren, marking a potential reconciliation within the Royal Family.
