A pit bull attacked a four-year-old girl while her mother tried to fend it off. The incident occurred as Alexis Higham was out walking with her daughter, Carina Palladino. The dog approached them without its owner in sight, then suddenly bit Carina’s face and knocked her to the ground. In an attempt to rescue her daughter, Alexis used a water bottle and a plant pot to fight off the aggressive pit bull.
Describing the terrifying ordeal, Alexis, from Mentor, Ohio, shared her harrowing experience, stating that she feared for Carina’s life as the dog viciously attacked. Despite suffering injuries to her hand during the struggle, Alexis managed to place Carina on a picnic table and used a plant pot to deter the dog. The owner eventually emerged from a nearby residence, taking the dog inside after the attack. An ambulance was called by a passerby to assist the injured mother and daughter.
Carina underwent reconstructive surgery, while Alexis received stitches for her hand wounds. The traumatic incident left both of them deeply affected, with Carina now experiencing fear and anxiety triggered by barking sounds. Alexis, in an effort to cover medical expenses and loss of income during her recovery, set up a GoFundMe page to seek financial support.
Although it remains unclear if authorities are investigating the incident, Alexis mentioned that the dog responsible for the attack has been euthanized. Concerned individuals can contribute to the GoFundMe campaign to aid Alexis and Carina in their journey to recovery.
