“Luke Littler Eyes Darts Success Despite Tax Hit”

Luke Littler is in a position to recoup part of the money he is expected to lose from his £1 million prize for winning the PDC World Darts Championship. The 18-year-old made history by becoming the first player since Gary Anderson to clinch consecutive world titles by defeating Gian van Veen at Alexandra Palace.

In a dominant display, Littler defeated the Dutchman 7-1, solidifying his place as a serial record-breaker in darts. With this victory, he also became the first player to secure the £1 million prize on offer. Despite this significant win, nearly half of his earnings will be deducted due to UK tax laws, resulting in a substantial tax bill of up to £450,000.

Following his triumph, Littler is gearing up for the Bahrain Darts Masters scheduled to commence on January 15. This competition presents an opportunity for him to add more winnings to his tally after his previous victory in 2024 against Michael van Gerwen.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Littler outlined his upcoming plans, which include aiming for another title in Bahrain. If successful, he will have limited time to rest before participating in the Saudi Arabia Darts Masters starting on January 19 in Riyadh.

Expressing his ambition to continue his winning streak, Littler shared his determination to excel in the upcoming events, including the first Saudi Arabian World Series. He also mentioned a brief relaxation plan in Dubai following the intense competitions.

As Littler eyes further successes in the darts world, he remains focused on dominating the sport and possibly matching or surpassing Phil Taylor’s record of 16 world titles. His dedication and drive to excel were evident in his recent achievements, where he emphasized his desire to conquer all challenges in the sport.
