Louis Tomlinson, a former member of the band One Direction, has discussed the potential reunion of the group following the tragic passing of Liam Payne at the age of 31 last year. In a recent appearance on The Diary Of A CEO podcast hosted by Steven Bartlett, Louis, 33, reflected on the fans’ desire for a One Direction comeback since the band went on hiatus in 2016. The original band lineup consisted of Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Liam, Niall Horan, and Louis.
The sudden death of Liam deeply impacted fans, especially after details emerged about his final conversation with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, before the fatal incident. Louis expressed uncertainty about the appropriateness of a reunion without Liam, stating, “Never say never, but I’m not sure it would be right without him.”
Louis touched on the band’s breakup dynamics during the podcast, mentioning that significant decisions were made collectively as a group, but there were moments of individuality that affected the band’s dynamic. He candidly shared his emotional struggle post-band breakup, expressing his grief and longing for the musical group.
Addressing Simon Cowell’s role in the band’s formation, Louis mentioned that the group members had developed a strong sense of independence early on, making their own decisions and not relying on external influences. Despite Simon’s initial involvement in creating One Direction, Louis indicated that the band had established its autonomy.
