Conor Benn has criticized his rival Chris Eubank Jr for displaying a ‘victim mentality’ following the sharing of a concerning video showing Eubank Jr receiving medical treatment in a hospital. The footage depicted Eubank Jr, aged 36, lying still on a hospital bed connected to medical equipment and surrounded by healthcare personnel.
The video elicited empathy from fans, with some suggesting that Eubank Jr should consider retiring, especially after his unanimous decision loss to Benn in their rematch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, Benn questioned the motive behind Eubank Jr’s video post, insinuating that it was a ploy to gain sympathy.
In an interview with the Mail, Benn mentioned rumors of Eubank Jr struggling with health issues during his training camp and after the fight. Despite this, Benn remained unsympathetic, emphasizing that such challenges are part of the boxing profession and should not be used to seek public sympathy.
Eubank Jr, in response to the video, affirmed his determination not to retire. He acknowledged his health struggles over the past year, expressing his commitment to return to boxing at full strength, albeit uncertain about the timeline. He reassured his supporters of his intention to stage a comeback in the future.
