“Christian Horner Considered to Replace Aston Martin Team Principal”

Christian Horner is reportedly being considered as a potential replacement for Andy Cowell as the team principal of Aston Martin. Speculation suggests that the 56-year-old Cowell might be relieved of his duties following the recent Las Vegas Grand Prix. Horner, the former head of Red Bull Racing, has been actively seeking a return to Formula 1 since he left his previous role in July.

After a challenging race in Las Vegas, RacingNews365 reported that Cowell’s position at Aston Martin was on shaky ground. The team is currently struggling in seventh place in the Constructors’ Championship, just eight points ahead of ninth-placed Sauber. The report identified Andreas Seidl, a former McLaren and Sauber executive, as the leading candidate to replace Cowell.

BBC Sport has also mentioned Horner as a potential successor to Cowell at Aston Martin. Horner, a well-known figure in Formula 1, has been linked to several teams following his departure from Red Bull, including Ferrari, Haas, and Alpine. This opportunity with Aston Martin could be his most significant since leaving his previous role.

Rumors about Horner joining Aston Martin circulated before the Singapore Grand Prix but were quickly dismissed by Cowell. Cowell stated that there were no plans for Horner to be involved with the team in any capacity in the future.

If Horner does return to Formula 1 with Aston Martin, it would lead to a reunion with his rival Zak Brown, the CEO of McLaren Racing. Brown expressed mixed feelings about Horner, acknowledging his past success but also noting changes in his demeanor over the years.

Meanwhile, Red Bull had a reason to celebrate in Las Vegas as Max Verstappen won the race, keeping his hopes alive in the Drivers’ Championship. Verstappen overtook Lando Norris at the start and went on to secure a commanding victory. However, both McLaren cars were disqualified post-race, affecting the standings as the championship battle intensifies heading into the next race in Qatar.
