“Anthony Joshua Returns to Gym After Tragic Car Crash”

Anthony Joshua, the former two-time heavyweight boxing champion, has returned to the gym almost three weeks after a fatal car crash in Nigeria. While Joshua sustained minor injuries in the collision between the Lexus SUV he was in and a stationary truck near Lagos, the incident tragically took the lives of two close friends and teammates, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele. Their funerals were held in London on January 4.

During his visit to Nigeria for a holiday and family time, Joshua, fresh from a victory over Jake Paul, spent a few days in the hospital before being discharged on New Year’s Eve. Speculation arose about his future in boxing, but Joshua recently shared on Snapchat images of his gym sessions, describing them as “mental strength therapy.” Videos showed him engaged in various workouts, including hitting pads, lower leg exercises, stationary biking, and swimming.

Concerns about Joshua’s retirement surfaced when his uncle mentioned that Joshua informed the family about his decision to retire post the accident. However, Mirror Fighting reports that Joshua has yet to confirm any retirement plans. Additionally, the driver charged over the crash was revealed to be Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, facing charges related to the incident in court.

Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, emphasized the need for Joshua to take time off to heal emotionally and physically before making any decisions about his boxing career. Hearn stressed that Joshua’s voice would be the final authority on his future in the sport. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his next move, the focus remains on Joshua’s recovery, with hopes for his return to the ring when the time is right.
