A 21-year-old man, Chris LePage, tragically passed away due to fentanyl poisoning after a struggle with substance dependence. His parents, Maria and John, rushed to Boynton Beach, Florida, upon learning of his hospitalization. Despite efforts to save him, Chris was declared brain-dead while on life support. The family made the difficult decision to disconnect life support, honoring Chris’s wish to donate his kidney, pancreas, and liver to three individuals in need.
Chris, described as a charming and vibrant individual by his mother, had initially turned to drugs like marijuana in an attempt to fit in socially. Over time, his experimentation escalated to more dangerous substances, eventually culminating in a fentanyl addiction. Despite seeking help and undergoing rehabilitation, Chris continued to struggle with substance abuse, leading to multiple overdose incidents, including one that landed him in the ICU.
On the fateful day of April 7, 2023, Maria reached out to Chris, urging him to seek help, but received no response. Shortly after, she received a distressing call informing her of Chris’s overdose and hospitalization. In a race against time, Maria and John made a swift journey to Florida, where they ultimately had to make the heart-wrenching decision to let Chris go.
Following his passing, Chris’s organs were successfully donated to save the lives of three individuals, a gesture that brought solace to his grieving family. Maria emphasized Chris’s kind-hearted nature and desire to help others, hoping that he will be remembered for his positive qualities rather than the struggles he faced. Despite the pain of loss, Maria remains committed to preserving Chris’s memory and ensuring that his impact is not forgotten.
