Former Model and Singer Fede Dorcaz Killed in Mexico

Singer and former model Fede Dorcaz tragically lost his life at 29 in a fatal shooting incident on October 9. The Argentine artist was shot just before his scheduled appearance on the Mexican edition of Dancing with the Stars on Thursday evening in what authorities have labeled an attempted robbery.

The tragedy unfolded in Mexico City as Dorcaz was driving home from a dance studio after rehearsals for the show. According to the Mexico City Secretariat of Public Safety, he was fatally shot in the neck while trying to exit a ring road.

Law enforcement is currently on the lookout for four suspects who fled the scene on two motorcycles, as reported by the Express. Surveillance footage from the area is under examination to help identify the assailants, but no arrests have been made yet.

The news of Dorcaz’s death was confirmed by the social media channel ¡Siéntese Quien Pueda!, which expressed, “Fede departed too soon, but his talent, charm, and enthusiasm will endure in our memories and music.”

Dorcaz was slated to compete on the TV show Las Estrellas Bailan En Hoy, Mexico’s version of Dancing with the Stars, which is set to return to air next week. The program paid tribute to the star on its official Instagram account.

His girlfriend, Venezuelan YouTuber Mariana Avila, also shared a touching tribute to Dorcaz, stating, “You loved Mexico with all your heart, just as everyone who knew you loved you.”

Originally from Mar del Plata on Argentina’s Atlantic coast, Dorcaz had been residing in Mexico for two years. The dance reality show was to be his inaugural major project in the country.

Recognized as a “rising Latin star ready to redefine global Latin pop” by Rolling Stone, his songs, including the popular “Cara Bonita” (Pretty Face), garnered affection across Latin America and beyond.
