Ryan Reynolds is under fire for making a controversial statement about a hypothetical vasectomy involving his spouse, Blake Lively, following the birth of their son. The 48-year-old star of “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers to discuss a documentary about John Candy and mentioned how life at home had changed after welcoming their first son, Olin.
During the interview, Ryan shared that if their son had been their first child, they would not have had four children. He described their home as devoid of violence or creepiness but humorously noted that Olin seemed to have a penchant for violence, breasts, and engines from the start. Ryan joked that if he had three boys first, he would have opted for a vasectomy to avoid more children.
His comments drew criticism on social media, with viewers expressing disapproval of his remarks. Many found his words “disgusting” and questioned his portrayal of his son in a negative light. Some criticized Ryan for taking over the promotion of the John Candy documentary, especially since he was not involved in the film and filmmaker Colin Hanks was overlooked in the marketing efforts.
Ryan and Blake tied the knot in 2012 after meeting on the set of the DC Comics movie “Green Lantern” in 2010. They welcomed their children James in December 2014, Ines in September 2016, Betty in October 2019, and Olin in February 2023.
