“EDF Offers Free Sunday Electricity with Sunday Saver Challenge”

EDF has reintroduced its Sunday Saver challenge for February, offering customers free electricity on Sundays if they shift their energy consumption away from peak hours on weekdays, specifically between 4pm to 7pm. By participating, customers can earn between four to 16 hours of free electricity on the following Sunday, with EDF customers set to benefit from four Sunday Saver challenges throughout February and March.

Customers with smart meters can sign up for the challenge until February 1st. EDF reports that more than 260,000 households have already received over 17 million free hours of electricity through the Sunday Saver initiative, resulting in £5.2 million in bill credits for customers.

Over the Christmas period, more than 100,000 customers enjoyed eight hours of complimentary electricity, contributing to a total of 910,536 free hours distributed by EDF. One satisfied participant, Natasha Shields from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, has accumulated over 680 free hours on Sundays, finding the challenge helpful in managing rising living costs.

Jon Perks, EDF’s Sales & Marketing Director, emphasized the benefits of the Sunday Saver challenge during the winter season, highlighting its role in helping customers reduce costs and support a more sustainable electricity grid. Participants can track their progress through EDF’s Energy Hub, enabling them to identify opportunities to save energy and reduce their carbon footprint.

Additionally, EDF is offering a £50 credit to both new and existing customers who sign up for any of its electric vehicle (EV) tariffs within the next month. These EV tariffs provide five hours of discounted electricity every night between 12am to 5am for both household and electric vehicle charging. Customers can track their Sunday Saver progress on the Energy Hub via MyAccount, gaining insights into their energy usage patterns and savings.
