“Man Sentenced to 16 Years for Brutal Attack on Ex-Girlfriend”

A man has been sentenced to jail for a brutal attack on his former girlfriend, resulting in severe injuries all over her body, including forcing her face into cat litter in an attempt to make her consume it. Jared Warlow, aged 29, assaulted his victim with various weapons, strangled her, ripped her clothing, bit off part of her ear, and compelled her to eat cat litter, as revealed in Swansea Crown Court.

The victim was swiftly taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, where doctors identified numerous injuries, such as a double-sided jaw fracture, six broken ribs, a fractured spine, multiple liver wounds, a deformed right ear missing its top, bruises, swelling on the face, body, and arms, along with a traumatic knee injury.

Suffering from tinnitus, a deformed ear, chipped teeth, and loss of sensation from the nose bridge down to the neck due to probable permanent nerve damage, the woman’s condition was described as “sadistic” and “unspeakably horrific” by the judge. Consequently, Warlow was handed a 16-year extended sentence as a dangerous offender.

Prosecutor Craig Jones informed the court that Warlow and the victim had only been in a relationship for a few weeks before the assault occurred at the woman’s residence. Following an altercation, Warlow subjected the woman to a prolonged assault lasting approximately 45 minutes, involving various weapons and violent acts.

Warlow’s history of violence towards partners was highlighted in court, with previous convictions for offenses like attempted robbery, possession of an imitation firearm, breaching a restraining order, and multiple counts of assault causing bodily harm. The judge emphasized that Warlow’s actions were beyond extreme, leading to the decision of an extended sentence to protect the public.

Expressing remorse for his actions, Warlow attributed the incident to heavy intoxication and issued an apology through a letter to the court. Despite pleading guilty to causing serious bodily harm with intent, the judge emphasized the severity of the case, labeling Warlow as a “violent individual” who posed a significant threat.

The court’s decision resulted in an extended 16-year sentence for Warlow, with a possibility of parole after serving two-thirds of the custodial term. The victim’s statement portrayed the lasting impact of the assault, causing immense pain, humiliation, anxiety, and depression.
