Dan Evans Voices Frustration Over Davis Cup Doubles Snub

British tennis player Dan Evans expressed his disappointment and feeling of insult after being left out of the doubles category in the Davis Cup team selection. Despite his success in the 2015 Davis Cup, Evans considered quitting the team due to this decision, emphasizing that his lack of regular doubles play should not have been a determining factor. He voiced his frustration in an interview, highlighting that his skills in doubles should be recognized beyond rankings.

Following his exclusion from the 2021 Davis Cup Finals doubles match, where he only participated in singles matches, Evans questioned the selection process and pondered his future involvement in the team. Despite his concerns, Evans eventually paired with Neal Skupski in a successful doubles match against Colombia the following year. Unfortunately, Evans had to miss the 2023 Davis Cup Finals due to an injury.

In other Davis Cup news, Italy triumphed over Austria to secure a spot in the semi-finals, with Matteo Berrettini and Flavio Cobolli leading the team to victory. Berrettini secured a win against Jurij Rodionov, while Cobolli’s victory over Filip Misolic sealed Italy’s advancement to face Belgium in the next round. Meanwhile, Great Britain faced a defeat against Japan in the qualifying round, missing out on the 2025 Davis Cup Finals.
