After mysteriously disappearing for two years, a man was recently located following his unexpected appearance in a TikTok video. Diego Londoño, a 41-year-old philosopher and musician, had gone missing in Peru, prompting his family to search for him. Despite losing touch with his sisters in Colombia, an influencer eventually learned of his situation and decided to assist in the search.
Acting on reports of Diego being sighted in Máncora, Amy Solano, an Ecuadorian businesswoman, traveled to the area. Although her initial search efforts in the region proved futile, she fortuitously encountered a man resembling Diego while in Chiclayo. She captured the moment on TikTok, leading to his identification and subsequent apprehension by the Peruvian National Police.
Diego was found walking along the Panamericana Norte highway by officers from the Lagunas-Mocupe police station on the morning of Thursday, September 25. Despite being safe, Diego expressed his intention to remain a “voluntary nomad” and indicated no desire to return to Colombia. Following a brief stay at the police station, where he received essentials and the opportunity to contact his family, Diego communicated with his sisters who respected his decision not to return home for the time being.
Refusing a psychological evaluation, Diego showed no signs of health issues during his time in custody. Described by officers as a polyglot who sustains himself by selling handicrafts in bronze and copper across different cities, Diego plans to fly to Lima soon. Police advised him to periodically visit police stations to keep in touch with his family and alleviate any concerns about his well-being.
In a statement to Éxito Noticias, Diego expressed his unique lifestyle and the challenges of explaining it to others while acknowledging the importance of family ties.
