“Trump Targets Al Sharpton & NBC for FCC Probe”

President Donald Trump has turned his attention to Reverend Al Sharpton, who recently had a meeting with the CEO of Target, as a potential target for Federal Communications Commission chair Brendan Carr. This move follows Trump’s involvement in the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel’s talk show.

Trump criticized the civil rights activist and TV personality on his social media platform, Truth Social, urging the FCC to investigate NBC’s broadcasting license. This action was prompted by Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal’s remarks about Trump during an appearance on Al’s MSNBC show, PoliticsNation.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump mentioned his past acquaintance with Sharpton and criticized him for allegedly being a fan of Trump. He also accused Sharpton of inviting him to rallies to boost attendance. Trump also took aim at Comcast CEO Brian Roberts, labeling him the “Chairman of Fake News NBC” and criticizing him for giving Sharpton a hosting role on a poorly-rated TV show.

Trump further called for the FCC to scrutinize NBC’s license due to what he perceives as a bias towards Democrats in their content. He highlighted his dissatisfaction with media outlets like ABC for their negative portrayal of Republicans.

Trump’s comments were particularly directed at NBC due to Al Sharpton’s affiliation with MSNBC, which is part of the NBCUniversal network under Comcast’s ownership. However, it is important to note that FCC licenses cover broadcast stations, not cable networks like MSNBC, limiting the FCC’s authority over cable programming.

Trump’s recent criticism of media personalities comes after he mocked late-night TV hosts and celebrated the alleged firing of Stephen Colbert from CBS. He also expressed disdain for Jimmy Kimmel’s return to television after a temporary suspension of his show due to controversial comments.

Expressing his disapproval, Trump questioned ABC’s decision to reinstate Jimmy Kimmel, criticizing the show’s content and performance. He accused Kimmel of presenting biased and unfunny content that jeopardizes the network.

In summary, Trump’s public remarks reflect his ongoing feud with media personalities and his concerns about perceived bias in television programming.
