After over ten years of conducting interviews and engaging in light-hearted conversations with famous personalities over some fried chicken, Amelia Dimoldenberg, the host of the popular YouTube show “Chicken Shop Date,” revealed her decision to bring the show to a close this week.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, Dimoldenberg expressed her gratitude to her audience, describing the show as her personal romantic comedy that has provided joy to many viewers. Despite initially believing that “Chicken Shop Date” would be a lifelong project, she now feels it is time to embark on a new adventure.
The show, which Dimoldenberg initiated 12 years ago by interviewing musicians in the UK’s underground rap scene, has since evolved to feature discussions with celebrities like Keke Palmer, Conan O’Brien, Paul McCartney, and Jack Harlow, amassing nearly 3.5 million subscribers on her YouTube channel.
“Chicken Shop Date” follows a simple yet engaging format where Dimoldenberg shares a meal at a London fried chicken shop with a celebrity, asking a mix of flirtatious, humorous, and sometimes awkward questions. This unconventional setting often leads to playful banter akin to a first date rather than a traditional talk show interview, as seen in interactions such as her flirtatious exchange with Andrew Garfield in 2024.
Among her diverse interviews, Dimoldenberg has also hosted Canadians like Ryan Reynolds and Shania Twain. Notably, during Reynolds’ appearance, the actor mistakenly referred to his wife’s character on “Gossip Girl,” prompting Dimoldenberg to correct him, revealing her attention to detail and humor during the encounters.
Dimoldenberg’s success on YouTube has opened doors to new opportunities, including covering the Oscars red carpet this year and interviewing personalities like Hudson Williams. While her future endeavors post-“Chicken Shop Date” remain undisclosed, reports suggest her involvement in developing a young adult drama series for the BBC.
In her farewell message on Instagram, Dimoldenberg hinted at a few more episodes to come before bidding farewell to the show permanently, leaving viewers curious about her upcoming projects.
