“Perseid Meteor Shower Lights Up Skies Across Europe”

The annual Perseid meteor shower occurs as Earth passes through debris left by Comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle. This celestial event peaked overnight under ideal stargazing conditions due to a new moon, minimizing moonlight interference. Witness meteor streaks at Mount Ramon in the Negev Desert, near Mitzpe Ramon, Israel, early Thursday.

In Croatia, people observed a meteor streaking across the sky at Visnjan Observatory on Wednesday evening. Another meteor illuminated the night sky above the Stone Dolls of Kuklica, near Kratovo, North Macedonia, early Thursday. Meanwhile, spectators gathered at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Mount Avala, near Belgrade, Serbia, to witness the Perseid meteor shower.

A meteor streaked across the night sky above the megalithic stone walls of the ancient Illyrian city of Daorson near Stolac, in southern Bosnia-Herzegovina. From Jacobsdorf, Germany, a meteor with a green tail, along with the streaks of two satellites, was visible during the Perseid meteor shower on Wednesday. Lastly, a Perseid meteor streaked across the night sky behind St. Mark’s Tower, a 17th-century coastal fortification near the village of Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq, Malta.
