“Manchester Synagogue Attacker Behaved Suspiciously Before Deadly Assault”

Police have revealed that the Manchester synagogue attacker was observed behaving suspiciously at the location 15 minutes before launching his deadly assault. Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) shared updates on the investigation into Jihad Al-Shamie’s assault at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue, where two individuals lost their lives and four others were injured. Al-Shamie, 35, was reportedly approached by synagogue security after exhibiting suspicious behavior outside the gates but left the scene. He later returned in a black Kia, drove at bystanders, crashed through a wall, and initiated the knife attack. During the incident, Al-Shamie called emergency services, pledging allegiance to the Islamic State group. Witness accounts indicated that the attacker was seen acting suspiciously before the assault, but this was not reported to the police initially. Al-Shamie was prevented from entering the synagogue, thanks to the quick response of security personnel, worshippers, and law enforcement. Greater Manchester Police suggested that Al-Shami might have been influenced by extremist Islamist ideology. Following the attack, Counter Terrorism officers detained and questioned six individuals, with two released and four set to be discharged without charge.
