Amber Kissell, a 45-year-old mother, faced a challenging journey when her health issues were initially misdiagnosed by doctors. Despite experiencing fatigue, bowel problems, weight loss, and blood in her stool after giving birth to her second child, medical professionals dismissed her concerns as symptoms of a fissure or haemorrhoids, claiming she was too young to have cancer.
Eventually, Amber’s persistence led her to undergo a colonoscopy, revealing she had advanced stage four colon cancer that had spread to her liver and lymph nodes. Following 12 rounds of chemotherapy, her tumors vanished, and she has been in remission ever since.
Recalling the emotional turmoil of her diagnosis, Amber expressed her disbelief at the severity of her condition, especially with young children to care for. Despite being initially told she might not survive, Amber’s treatment proved successful, eradicating the cancer completely. Today, nearly a decade later, she continues to lead a healthy life, only requiring annual checkups with her oncologist.
