Darius McCrary, known for his role in Family Matters, has been apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol near the US-Mexico border. The 49-year-old actor was taken into custody on October 5 under a fugitive arrest linked to an out-of-state felony charge, as per online records.
Reports from TMZ indicate that McCrary is presently detained in a San Diego jail. His representative mentioned that the arrest is connected to a warrant from Michigan due to a missed court appearance related to unpaid child support. Requests for comment from McCrary’s representative are pending.
This incident is not the first legal trouble for McCrary. In 2015, he was arrested momentarily for the same child support issue but was released after settling the $5,500 owed. Moreover, in November 2023, he faced felony charges for a substantial child support debt, entering a not guilty plea with a bond set at $13,197.01.
McCrary, a father of three, was previously on GPS monitoring in 2023. His legal battles have intertwined with personal conflicts, including filing restraining orders against his ex-partner, alleging abuse and disruptions in court appearances.
The actor rose to fame for his portrayal of Eddie Winslow on Family Matters from 1989 to 1998, showcasing his comedic talent and stylish presence. While primarily known for his TV work, McCrary has made appearances in various shows like Moesha, Girlfriends, and Cold Case. Additionally, he has ventured into the film industry with roles in movies such as Kingdom Come, Mississippi Burning, and Saw VI.
