“24 Decomposing Bodies Found at Colorado Funeral Home”

Families are anxiously awaiting updates regarding their deceased relatives following the uncovering of 24 decomposing bodies and numerous containers of human remains hidden in a concealed room at a funeral home.

The shocking revelation occurred at Davis Mortuary in August during an inspection conducted by officials from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies, mandated by a recent state law.

The mortuary, previously headed by former Pueblo County Coroner Brian Cotter and his sibling, Chris, saw Brian’s resignation a week after the examination.

To date, six out of the 24 bodies have been identified and their families informed, following what authorities described as a meticulous and gradual identification process.

CBI’s Assistant Director of Investigations, Clint Thomason, indicated that most of the bodies discovered at Davis Mortuary are believed to belong to individuals who passed away between 2010 and 2012.

Thomason confirmed, “The recovered remains are predominantly from the time span of 2010 to 2012, and at present, it is our assessment that all the remains likely date back to that period.”

He also noted that the investigation is hindered by the mortuary’s reliance on paper records, necessitating manual scrutiny, potentially prolonging the identification process to several months.

Furthermore, investigators plan to ascertain the identities of all the bodies before initiating legal action. Thomason stated, “We have been in close consultation with the district attorney, opting not to file charges incrementally but to bring all charges collectively, believing this approach will best serve justice in this case.”

The CBI (Colorado Bureau of Investigation) disclosed that they will continue the identification process for the remaining 18 bodies using dental records, fingerprints, and DNA analysis.

Subsequently, a man came forward, revealing that his granddaughter was among the 24 bodies discovered at Davis Mortuary.

John Cordova shared that his daughter experienced the loss of her baby in 2012, leading the family to engage Davis Mortuary for the baby’s cremation, as reported by 11 News.

Now, thirteen years later, Cordova expressed the resurgence of painful memories after the CBI contacted them, confirming that one of the improperly handled bodies at the funeral home was their baby.

Cordova raised numerous uncertainties upon learning this information, particularly questioning the contents of the urn they were provided with. “The ambiguity around the urn they gave us is a significant concern that leaves us pondering the reasons behind it,” he remarked.

Expressing his disillusionment, Cordova added, “I had faith in them, trusted them, and evidently, I
