A mother shared her love with her teenage daughter as she passed away in her arms after enduring a brutal 24-hour assault from her partner. Shawntae Brown, aged 34, conveyed her feelings to her 15-year-old child, Aleisha, moments before her tragic death due to severe injuries inflicted by the violent Joshua Brown. Brown was recently sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole, five years after the murder took place.
The daughter, now 20 years old, honored her mother today, reminiscing about her final moments. She recalled her mother’s words, stating, “She told me she loved me… I feel somewhat comforted that she passed away in my embrace. It brings me solace despite my feelings of selfishness.”
Joshua Brown assaulted his partner using various objects like a belt, a shoe, and a flagpole over two days in September 2020. He then forced his three children, including the daughter who spoke to the media this week, to clean up the blood and mess in their home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Aleisha mentioned that she had observed signs of her father’s abusive behavior towards her mother for a considerable time. The fatal incident, however, involved a prolonged assault by Brown, resulting in the victim sustaining bruises and cuts across her body.
Reflecting on the past, Aleisha expressed her thoughts, saying, “I still notice signs. I remember things from back then that my mother perhaps tried to shield us from. I question if he was truly a good father or if my mother portrayed him that way to protect us.” She described the night of the attack as exceptionally distressing, marking the worst experience they had endured.
After the 24-hour assault, Brown instructed his children to clean the room. Realizing the severity of the situation, he called emergency services, but paramedics pronounced his partner – his high school sweetheart – dead in front of the children.
Aleisha, currently a second-year university student majoring in media and communications, believes her mother would be proud of her pursuing her aspirations. She aims to embody her mother’s selflessness, love, and zeal, emphasizing her mother’s exceptional qualities as a parent.
