A tragic incident occurred at Disney World as a guest reportedly took their own life near one of the popular hotels within the theme park premises. The individual’s body was found close to Disney’s Contemporary Resort, one of the many hotels situated on the vast Orlando property. According to earlier accounts, witnesses mentioned that the person had jumped from a platform onto the monorail track.
Initial reports on social media suggested that the guest had been struck by the resort’s monorail, but a police spokesperson clarified that this information was incorrect. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident as “an apparent suicide,” as investigations by the authorities are ongoing.
The Contemporary Resort, as reported by EW, features a monorail track that passes through the hotel’s distinctive A-frame structure. The discovery of the body took place around 6:40 pm along North World Drive, as indicated by News 6 Click Orlando. Following the incident, monorail services through the building were temporarily halted. Due to the sensitive nature of the case, officials refrained from providing further details.
Disney World’s Monorail system efficiently transports guests between the Magic Kingdom park, EPCOT, and selected Disney Resort hotels within minutes. The park operates three separate monorail lines that span across the park, facilitating convenient travel for visitors, according to the official Disney World website.
Additionally, tragedy struck at Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion where a woman in her 60s tragically passed away after experiencing the iconic attraction at Disneyland, California. Following her transfer to a local hospital, she was later pronounced deceased, as confirmed by a representative from the Anaheim Police Department to Entertainment Weekly.
The Haunted Mansion remains a beloved attraction at Disney parks, originating in 1969 within the New Orleans Square section of the park. Notably, it holds the distinction of being one of the last attractions personally influenced by Walt Disney before his passing in 1966, three years prior to the ride’s inauguration.
Various attempts have been made to gather additional comments from Disney World, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and the Orange County Medical Examiner by The Mirror.
