“Tragic Accident: Woman Dies After Getting Trapped in Car Window”

A tragic incident involving a car has resulted in the death of a woman, leaving her loved ones devastated and puzzled. Bernadette Delmotte, aged 60, passed away on 13 June in Bissy-sur-Fley, France, after being trapped in her Fiat 500’s automatic window.

Reports suggest that while cleaning her car, Ms. Delmotte accidentally got entangled in the window mechanism. It is believed that she leaned into the vehicle to reach for the handbrake but had forgotten to apply it. In an attempt to stop the car from rolling back, she lunged through the open window, inadvertently activating the automatic control, causing the window to close around her neck.

Friends who were expecting Bernadette for dinner grew concerned when she did not arrive as planned. Upon discovering her absence, they visited her residence and found her lifeless body. Bernadette, a retired coach and training consultant, met a tragic end in this unforeseen accident.

In disbelief, Bernadette’s brother François expressed his shock at the circumstances surrounding his sister’s untimely death. Despite writing to Fiat to address the issue, he emphasized that seeking compensation would not bring back his sister but aims to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

An autopsy confirmed that Bernadette died from asphyxiation, and her death was deemed accidental, with no suspicion of foul play. This incident bears similarities to a case in Ukraine in 2021, where a woman lost her life in a comparable accident involving a car window, highlighting the importance of car safety awareness.
