“Putin Praises Trump’s Gaza Efforts Amid Nobel Buzz”

Donald Trump fell short of winning the Nobel Peace Prize but gained support from a contentious ally, Vladimir Putin, regarding the Gaza ceasefire agreement. Putin praised the deal as a potential historic event if it holds, acknowledging Trump’s role in the achievement.

Despite the timing of the announcement just after the agreement was ratified, Benjamin Netanyahu, along with Trump’s supporters, asserted that Trump deserved the prize for his efforts in the Middle East. Trump himself has expressed aspirations of winning the award, claiming it as rightfully his.

The 2022 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado for her relentless advocacy for democratic rights in Venezuela. Trump extended congratulations to Machado in a phone call, according to her campaign manager.

Putin, when asked about Trump being overlooked for the Nobel Peace Prize, refrained from making a judgment but commended Trump’s initiatives in Gaza and Ukraine. Trump, in response, appreciated Putin’s remarks on social media, acknowledging his efforts to address global crises.

While Putin did not directly address Machado’s win, he criticized past Nobel laureates for their lack of contributions to global peace. He indirectly referenced Barack Obama’s swift prize win in 2009, suggesting it had diminished the award’s prestige.

In discussions with Trump during their summit in Alaska, Putin emphasized the need for further dialogue to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. Both leaders expressed a mutual understanding on the path forward to end the war, highlighting the importance of continued deliberations and potential progress based on their previous agreements.
